Like a few of our wineries, we came across Marco completely by chance. We were at a tasting outside Verona, just seeing what was currently happening in Italy. Certainly sparkling wines of Lambrusco have had a bit of a resurgence of late in England and Robin and John decided to taste a couple. We tasted two, the first was not quite to our style, the second was Marcos. Quite unlike any other sparkling producer we have tasted from this region, Marco only produces 9000 bottles from his 5 hectares, With this he has Sauvignon Blanc, Malvasia, Barbera and Lambrusco maestri. His vineyards have been taken back from the wild and are surrounded by rocks and forest. With this natural protection he is able to farm Biodynamically while being certain that no other surrounding farmers pesticides and herbicides can effect his crop. For help in pollination he is also a beekeeper.

All the wines are made the traditional method, all are re-fermented in bottle with no additions except a little sulphur. they are taught and highly acidic when young but will mature beautifully in bottle over the space of 12 months. All are very pure and varietal, a great alternative to lighter reds especially with food.
