9ha. under vine
Biodynamic viticulture

The Barbichon family are now in their fourth generation as Champagne producers. Farming just under 9 hectares around the village of Gyé - Sur - Seine, next to Les Riceys, where the soil is a mix of clay and limestone.
With the new generation of Thomas and Maxime, taking over from father Robert, a more natural philosophy has been instilled at the winery (As in nature focus) .
With at first Organic certification in 2007 moving to Demeter certification a few years later. In the cellar the children have decided to move away from the more simplistic approach of their father. Still incorporating stainless steel but also adding barrels in various parts of the vilification and ageing process, to try to help increase oxidation and also complexity in the wines.
Malolactic is also not discouraged, to help enrich and round their new style. Yet, these are still very fruit forward wines, especially in the Pinot Noir, which takes up a large amount of the estates plantings.
